Challenges force you out of your comfort zone, pushing you to experiment with new ideas and techniques. They can be difficult, forcing you to stretch your artistic muscles and test your skills. But they are so rewarding.

S9E11 | RESULTS: 2021 International Pet Photographer of the Year Awards
The annual Awards are an annual celebration of the artistry and skill of professional and emerging pet photographers from all around the globe. This year, more than 2500 pet portraits were submitted by pet photographers located in 52 countries. The top 100 shortlisted images were released first, followed by the Top 25, then the category winners and now, the overall International Pet Photographer of the Year, Veronika Šandorová from Slovakia.

With entries now open for the 2021 International Pet Photographer of the Year Awards, we thought it would be the perfect time to chat with the 2020 Category Winner, Saskia Rosebrock of SasR Photography. Saskia wowed the judges with her outside the box interpretation of the ‘Pets and their People’ category and in today’s episode she shares her own experience with entering - and winning - during the awards, plus her journey as a landscape-loving dog photographer.

We learned that Sara Glawe is a German pet photographer with a passion for colour harmony, and that she balances her thriving Arts with Heart business with a full time job. We first stumbled across the beautiful work of Marchien Heidstra when she won the Pets and their People Category in the International Pet Photographer of the Year Awards. She specialises in a fine art approach to natural light pet photography. She also teaches other photographers how to create that creamy post-processing style with her editing workshops.
