Today’s guest, Gabi Leon of Gavriella Pet Photography, moved to the U.S. 4 years ago. In the lead up to her move she laid as many foundations as possible to be ready to hit the ground running. Since then, she’s stayed focused on her goal which is to offer a high-end luxury photography business and build a million dollar business.
She isn’t quite getting consistent bookings yet, but the ones she does get, spend enough that it doesn’t matter- which by the way, is on average between $5-6k.
She’s gotten creative with her marketing too and in this interview, she shared one strategy that I haven’t heard of before and if you’re aiming for high sales, you could certainly replicate.

What would your business look like if your business partners, did your marketing for you?
If you could simply text your contact at the local specialist vet clinic, doggy daycare or equine centre and say “Let’s do it again”, and within a matter of days, you have high quality bookings?
And meanwhile, your website actually gained organic traffic and some of those visitors easily converted into your highest-spending clients.
No Facebook Ad spend. No time to dedicate to expos.
Just a shoot, a blog post and some gift vouchers.
This is my best marketing strategy, and with this challenge, you can access the exact steps I take to make it happen.

Gavriella Pet Photography, USA
Hi, I'm Gabi,
I think I might be the only pet photographer that never liked dogs until I started photographing them in 2018.
I moved to the US from Israel in January 2020... Yes just before covid, to fulfil my dream of having a full-time successful pet photography business.
What made me move?
In November I saw a post of a photographer mentioning it was their best month, they made $62,000. That was more than I was making in 2 years :)
My first thought was "Wow, That's crazy, but...If they can do it, I can do it"
I started looking for information on how this is possible and that was the first time I heard about IPS (In Person Sales)
I started teaching myself 24/7, Put together a price list (that made me sweat :) ) and got my daughter’s approval for the move.
My first sale was 3 weeks after I landed,5k (including almost having a heart attack saying these numbers to my client) I almost felt like I was stealing...
Then Covid hit... I moved to the US with no money, only my camera and the thought that I was good enough to be able to make money fast. and the next 2 years weren't easy to say the least. But I woke up every day thinking of my goal and doing all I could to get one step closer.
My business really started in 2022, By the end of 2023 I averaged 7k per client and had multiple sales over 10k.
My 2024 new years resolution was to work on the 2 extra parts that are part of my dream, Teaching and Passive income. I'm working on a e-commerce website to sell prints of my farm animal "Sky Portraits", The Barn Buds, And I put together a 12-week training for IPS and pet photography that will start in July.
